Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)
The Medical College Admission Test, or MCAT, is a multiple-choice standardized exam required for admission to most medical schools in the U.S. and Canada. The MCAT exam is offered multiple times throughout the year (January, March to September). This exam is administered through the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) which share information about MCAT testing and provide MCAT preparation resources to help you get ready for the exam.
Registration for July-September 2025 MCAT exam dates will open on Wednesday, February 19th at noon (12:00pm ET).
The AAMC MCAT Examination team is hosting a webinar session for the MCAT 2025 Testing Year on Thursday, February 6th at 3:00pm ET. In this session, the MCAT team will share information about the upcoming testing year and resources to help you prepare.
The MCAT is broken down to 4 sections:
Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems |
Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems |
Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior |
Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills (CARs) |
Each section is scored from 118 to 132 (Mean & Median section score = 125).
The total MCAT score ranges from 472 to 528 (Mean & Median Score = 500).
The MCAT Test Day is a total of approximately 7.5 hours (including lunch and optional breaks).
